On the activation of Data Controller Registry Information System (VERBIS or Registry) as of 1 October 2018

Pertaining to the Article 16 of Personal Data Protection Law no.6698 and the Regulation Regarding the Data Officers Registry published in the Official Gazette dated 30 December 2017 no.30286, natural and legal persons processing personal data must register to VERBIS by providing minimum information before starting to process data.

Within the scope of the decision of Personal Data Protection Board on “Starting Dates of Registration Obligation” dated 19 July 2018 and no.2018/88 published on the Official Gazette dated 18 August 2018 no.30513, starting dates for the obligation of VERBIS registry have been identified and the decisions indicated below have been made by the  Personal Data Protection Board;  

• Starting date for the obligation of VERBIS registry for real and legal person data controllers with more than 50 annual employees or with a total annual balance sheet of over 25 million TL is set as 01.10.2018 and the deadline for that is set as 30.09.2019,
• Starting date for the obligation of VERBIS registry is set as 01.10.2018 and the deadline for that is set as 30.09.2019 for real and legal person data controllers resident abroad,
• Starting date for the obligation of VERBIS registry for real and legal person data controllers with annual employees not less than 50 or with a total annual balance sheet of not less than 25 million TL whose main field of activity is private personal data processing set as 01.10.2018 and the deadline for that is set as 30.09.2019,
